Washington, Sept 4:Â World’s top-ranked player Carlos Alcaraz stormed into the US Open‘s round of 16 on Saturday, while second-seeded Aryna Sabalenka secured her place in the women’s draw. Meanwhile, Coco Gauff beats Caroline Wozniacki 6-3 3-6 6-1 for quarter-final spot. Says Gauff, ‘âDefinitely getting it to 2-1 in the last set was the turning point. I got broken in the first game and showed I was still in the match after breaking back.“I was still being aggressive but Carolineâs back and itâs like she never left. The level that sheâs played today is really amazing, and sheâs been an inspiration for me growing up.
âItâs a little bit weird. I grew up watching Caroline, I remember watching her win the Australian Open when everybody was saying all sorts of things about her. âSo to be out on the court with her today was an honour.âShe added, ‘”My whole box were cheering for me. Theyâre the ones that are giving me the game plan. Sometimes I do tell them to chill a little bit.”I like to think and figure out matches my own way. Their advice helps, I do listen but sometimes itâs a stress reaction.âThe one thing thatâs different is that my dadâs not in the box anymore because he gets too nervous. Heâs been doing laps around the stadium. I donât know if he can hear me but I felt his good energy even if I couldnât see him.â
