What’s new in Mahabs?

In a remarkable step towards sustainability and conservation, the iconic Shore Temple in Mahabalipuram has undergone a transformative change. The Green India Project, a commendable endeavor to reduce the temple’s environmental footprint, was officially completed and inaugurated, marking a significant milestone in the preservation of this historical treasure.

The cornerstone of this ambitious project is the adoption of solar power to illuminate the Shore Temple. A state-of-the-art solar control room, boasting a capacity of 30 KW, now stands proudly on the temple premises. This solar control room is not only an environmental win but also ensures that the entire heritage site is powered sustainably, reducing its reliance on conventional energy sources.

To enhance the visitor experience, various thoughtful additions have been made to the temple grounds. One such innovation is the installation of retractable bollards to regulate the flow of vehicles, preserving the sanctity of the site and minimizing congestion.
