In a distressing incident at the Coimbatore Central Prison, four jail warders found themselves injured following a clash with a group of seven remand prisoners on a fateful Thursday morning. The incident has raised concerns over prison safety and inmate welfare. The altercation unfolded at approximately 6 a.m. when the seven remand prisoners, namely Dinesh, Udhayakumar, Aravind, Hariharan, Alagarsamy, Ayyanar, and Krishna Kumar, reportedly assaulted four warders – identified as Rahul, Babu John, Mohanram, and Vimalraj. The dispute reportedly erupted when the warders attempted to transfer two of the inmates to another block within the prison premises. As the situation escalated, other warders rushed to the scene in an attempt to restore order. Resorting to lathi-charges, the warders sought to quell the clash between the prisoners. However, the inmates resorted to drastic measures by climbing trees and using razors to inflict injuries upon themselves. This shocking act not only deepened the crisis but also led to allegations from the inmates, who accused the warders of causing injuries to them. The incident has ignited a series of questions concerning prison security and the well-being of inmates.
