AIADMK leaders meets Piyush Goyal in Delhi

In recent days, Tamil Nadu’s political landscape has been abuzz with developments surrounding the alliance between the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This intricate dance of alliance and discord has left many speculating about the future of these two parties in the state’s political arena. It all began when AIADMK spokesperson D Jayakumar announced that there was “No” alliance with the BJP, setting the stage for a series of political maneuvers. A delegation of senior AIADMK functionaries, led by SP Velumani, made their way to Delhi to seek a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. However, their efforts proved futile as they were unable to secure an appointment with Shah. Undeterred by their initial setback, the AIADMK leaders sought an alternative route to address their concerns. They managed to meet Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who played a crucial role in seat-sharing for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls in Tamil Nadu. Coimbatore South constituency MLA and BJP national women’s wing leader Vanathi Srinivasan facilitated this meeting. During their discussion with Piyush Goyal, the AIADMK delegation expressed their discontent over the deteriorating relationship between the two alliance partners. The recent war of words, triggered by BJP state chief K Annamalai’s disparaging remarks about former CM CN Annadurai, had reached a point of no return. This prompted the AIADMK leadership to officially declare on September 18 that the alliance had come to an end.
