Tamil Nadu Transport Department has announced the operation of additional buses from Chennai to various districts in the state. This decision comes in light of the significant pre-booking of bus tickets for both Milad-un-Nabi on Thursday and Gandhi Jayanthi on Sunday.A senior officer from the transport department revealed that more than 650 buses, in addition to the regular services, will be deployed to ensure smooth and hassle-free travel for passengers. This move was prompted by the high volume of bookings made through the State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) website, indicating a substantial need for extra transportation options.
Starting from Wednesday of the upcoming week, a total of 400 special buses will be in operation, connecting different districts within Tamil Nadu. This strategic deployment aims to cater to the travel requirements of the public during the long weekend, which includes Milad-un-Nabi on Thursday, October 5th, and Gandhi Jayanthi on Sunday, October 8th.
On the 2nd of October, which coincides with Gandhi Jayanthi, additional buses will run specifically to assist passengers returning to Chennai from various districts in Tamil Nadu. This thoughtful arrangement is expected to ease the return journey for those who have ventured out to celebrate the long weekend.
