Two arrested for spreading old videos claiming Tamils were attacked in Karnataka


Two men were arrested from Madurai and Tirunelveli for spreading old videos on social media of a truck driver’s assault in Bengaluru claiming it was a recent incident where Tamils were attacked in Karnataka over the ongoing Cauvery row.

The accused Seeman of Madurai and Selwin of Tirunelveli were arrested by respective district police on Wednesday evening after they spread old videos on social media.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Director General of Police (DGP) Shankar Jiwal warned of stringent action against those who spread old videos of Tamils being attacked in Karnataka over the Cauvery water issue and portrayed it as something that’s happening now.

The DGP emphasized that such rumours may cause confusion & potentially lead to law and order issues.
