Asian Games Hockey: India men’s team reaches semis

Hangzhou, Oct 3: The Indian men’s hockey team delivered a commanding performance against Bangladesh at the Asian Games 2023, to gain momentum heading into the semi-final stages. The match ended with a resounding 12-0 victory for India, marking another dominating outing for the team.
Harmanpreet Singh and Mandeep Singh scored hat-tricks on the day as it was a through performance from the side.
India had come into the contest after hammering Pakistan 10-2 in their previous encounter and also scoring convincing wins over Uzbekistan (16-0), Singapore (16-1) and Japan (4-2).
The first quarter saw India take an early lead, with Harmanpreet Singh scoring two goals within two minutes. Mandeep Singh also contributed to the scoreline, making it 3-0 for India. By the end of the first quarter, India had established a solid 2-0 lead.
As the second quarter commenced, India continued its aggressive play. Lalit Kumar Upadhyay tapped the ball into the goal, taking the score to 4-0. Mandeep Singh then scored his second goal of the match, extending India’s lead to 5-0. Amit Rohidas added another goal, ending the first half with India leading 6-0.
The third quarter saw India maintain their dominance. Harmanpreet Singh scored his third goal of the match, taking the score to 7-0. Abhishek then scored a sensational goal, pushing India’s lead to 8-0 by the end of the third quarter.
