In an early morning incident, cops shot to death two history-sheeters at Sholavaram in Tiruvallur district. One of them was wanted in connection with a murder of an AIADMK man Parthiban.
Muthu Saravanan, one of the deceased, was accused of killing Parthiban. Sathish has several cases pending against him.
Following a tip-off that the two are hiding at a old building in Marampedu in Sholavaram, police rushed to the spot late last night. On spotting police, Muthu Saravanan and Sathish opened fire at men in khaki. When the cops fired back, both Muthu Saravanan and Sathish sustained injuries.
While Muthu Saravanan died on the spot, Sathish succumbed to injuries in hospital. Both the bodies have been taken to Stanley GH for postmortem. Three policemen suffered serious injuries in the exchange. A detailed enquiry has been ordered on the incidents.
