Union Minister of Textiles, Commerce, and Industry, Piyush Goyal has labelled Tamil Nadu as the “most corrupt state in the country” following the rise to power of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). He also criticized the Congress party for allegedly supporting the DMK’s alleged corruption.He targeted Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Udhayanidhi Stalin, for his stance against ‘Sanatana Dharma’.Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, L Murugan accused the DMK of being involved in corruption and ‘katta’ panchayat.The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president, K Annamalai claimed that 1,200 ancient statues went missing between 1992 and 2017, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration managed to retrieve 361 statues, including some from Tamil Nadu. Additionally, Annamalai raised concerns about the reduction of land owned by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department from 5.25 lakh acres in 1985 to 3.25 lakh acres in 2023, suggesting a significant loss of land.Annamalai also criticised the DMK for its alleged failure to complete the Athikadavu-Avinashi scheme, despite it being 87% completed during the previous AIADMK rule.
