Pradeep Kumar emerges champ

Chennai, Oct 26: Pradeep Kumar representing Postal Department scored 7.5 points at the end of the 8th and final  and won  the New Prince Group of Institutions co sponsored Sri M.S.Venkataraman Memorial 8th International Fide Rated Chess Tournament-2023 title  here at New Prince Bhavani  College of Engineering and Technology, Chennai.

Ajesh, Selvamurugan, Ramkumar, Narayanan Iyengar,Umashankar and Hari dev  were scored 7points each and they finished 2nd to 7th place respectively on Tie break.

Pradeep Kumar.R. A won first prize and got richer by Rs50000 and trophy .Ajesh J R clinched Runner up title and won RS.40000 cash prize. Selvamurugan.B finished third place and received cash prize of Rs.30000.

This event attracted 476 players from various parts of the countries and also from USA and Nepal including 202 Fide rated players. Cash prize of 5Lakhs were awarded to the winners with a first prize of Rs.50000. Eight round Swiss event was conducted from 21st to 24th October 2023. This event was co- sponsored by New Prince Group of Institutions, Chennai.

On the colourful valedictory function, Naveen Prasad, Vice Chairman, New Prince Group of Institutions presided over the function and V.S.Mahalakshmi, Secretary, New Prince Group of Institutions distributed the prizes to the winners in the presence of Mrs Bhuvana Sai, Secretary, Chengalpattu District Chess Association.
