The Supreme Court adjourned hearings on an appeal filed by the Tamil Nadu government against orders by single-judge benches of the Madras HC allowing the RSS to conduct its marches in the state to 6 November. It askedĀ the state as to why could it not appeal against the decision before a Division Bench of the High Court.
Justice G Jayachandran of the Madras HC had earlier summoned the Home Secretary and DGP, after the RSS filed aĀ contempt pleaĀ saying that the police had not granted them permission in spite of court orders.
