Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to its women empowerment scheme, announcing that the existing pool of 1,06,58,375 women who received a Rs 1000 benefit in September and October will continue to be monitored to ensure that no deserving person is left out.

Stalin emphasided that the monthly payment of Rs 1000 is a rightful entitlement for women heads of families. The total number of beneficiaries has now reached 1,13,84,300, with 1,06,58,375 of the 1.63 crore applicants deemed eligible for the benefit since the scheme’s launch. This initiative was a key promise outlined by the DMK in its 2021 Assembly election manifesto.

Launched on July 15, coinciding with the birth anniversary of C N Annadurai, the scheme’s implementation involved the meticulous processing of applications by 54,220 government officials at district and village levels. Additionally, NGO volunteers conducted door-to-door verifications to identify new beneficiaries and ensure their inclusion in the programme.
