In response to certain media reports claiming that Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) President Vijayakanth was on ventilator support, the party issued a press communique on Monday, dismissing the rumors and reassuring supporters that he is expected to return home in a day or two. The party urged its cadres not to believe false information about Vijayakanth’s health and emphasized the need to refrain from spreading unverified rumors. The press release from the party headquarters stated, “DMDK President Vijayakanth was admitted to a private hospital for a routine check-up on November 18. He is likely to return home in a day or two. No one should believe the false news on television channels that he is being given artificial respiration. This is absolutely false news. We request you not to believe in any rumors and not to spread anymore.” Hospital sources, however, mentioned that Vijayakanth was admitted due to a routine check-up for cough and throat pain. While acknowledging these health concerns, the party continued to dispel the more severe claims circulating in the media. State Minister for Health and Family Welfare, M Subramanian, also provided an update on Vijayakanth’s health, stating that he had spoken with the hospital management where Vijayakanth is admitted. The minister shared that although Vijayakanth was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), his health condition was reported as stable. Given Vijayakanth’s history of kidney transplantation, the same doctor who previously treated him is overseeing his care at the hospital. @@@
