In a recent address at the inauguration ceremony of the 15th National Tribal Youth Exchange Programme in Chennai, Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi highlighted the importance of inclusive development in the country’s progress. Governor Ravi commended India’s rapid strides on the global stage and stressed that no sector should be ignored or left behind in the march towards development. He particularly emphasized the role of both the government and society, especially the youth, in ensuring that every segment of the population contributes to the nation’s growth. Addressing the gathering, the Governor drew attention to the approximately 10.6 crore tribals in India, underscoring the significance of addressing their issues on a priority basis. He expressed concern that if a substantial population lags behind in development, the country as a whole cannot truly move forward on the path to progress. Quoting Prime Minister Modi’s vision of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ meaning the world is a family, Governor Ravi extended the analogy to India, stating that the nation is one big family. He emphasized that the challenges faced by any member of this family should be seen as the concern of the entire nation. Highlighting the need for collective effort, Governor Ravi urged all stakeholders in the country’s development to support tribal communities as family members, bringing them on par with other communities in the pursuit of all-round development. Drawing inspiration from his experiences in Nagaland, the Governor praised tribes in the Northeast for preserving their culture while excelling in education and development. He encouraged other tribes to aspire to similar achievements, becoming examples for those around them.
