To be eligible for this distinguished award, applicants must be Indian citizens residing in Tamil Nadu. Notably, certain professionals, including members of the Armed Forces, Police Forces, recognized Fire Services, and Government Servants, are excluded unless their actions extend beyond the scope of their official duties.
The ‘Kabir Puraskar’ acknowledges acts of physical and moral courage, particularly during communal riots. The focus is on individuals from one community displaying humanity by saving lives and protecting properties of members from another community. The award is a testament to the state’s commitment to celebrating unity and communal amity.
Three categories of the award come with a significant honor—a cheque of Rs 20,000, Rs 10,000, and Rs 5,000, along with a citation. This financial reward serves as both recognition and encouragement for those individuals whose actions exemplify the spirit of unity in diversity.
Prospective awardees are urged to submit their applications exclusively through the online portal https://awards.tn.gov.in before the deadline of December 15. It is essential to adhere to the stipulated timeframe, as applications received after this date will be regrettably rejected.
The meticulous selection of awardees will be overseen by a dedicated selection committee constituted specifically for the ‘Kabir Puraskar.’
