As Tamil Nadu navigates through the final days of the current weather pattern, the state’s meteorological authorities predict light to moderate rainfall in certain areas until December 10. S. Balachandran, the Additional Director General of Meteorology in Chennai, reassured that there is no major weather system anticipated in the next three days. The weather forecast indicates the likelihood of light rain persisting in some parts of the state, including Chennai, owing to local cloud cover until Saturday. Additionally, Balachandran highlighted the potential for wind convergence to bring rain over isolated places in districts along the Western Ghats on Saturday. However, heavy rainfall is expected to be confined to one or two locations in the Western Ghats districts on Friday. As of now, Tamil Nadu has received 37 cm of rainfall, which is marginally below its average of 38.3 cm for the season spanning from October 1. Balachandran noted that the state may transition into dry weather conditions starting from December 11, with only isolated instances of rain. In the past 24 hours, ending at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Varattupallam in Erode district experienced the heaviest rainfall in the state, recording 11 cm. This serves as a reminder of the localized nature of rainfall patterns in the region.
