Post Cyclone: 300 medical teams deployed across Chennai

In the wake of the havoc wreaked by Cyclone Michaung in Chennai and its nearby districts, the Tamil Nadu Public Health Department has swiftly deployed 300 medical teams to carry out health activities in the affected areas. As normalcy gradually returns, the focus shifts to disease control, prevention, and providing crucial medical support to the communities grappling with the aftermath of the cyclone. Responding to the urgent health needs of the affected population, the Public Health Department has dispatched 300 medical teams, comprising both mobile medical teams and those from the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), to storm-affected areas. Recognizing the specific challenges faced by different regions, a strategic allocation of teams has been implemented. The statement from the Public Health Department outlines a targeted approach with 159 teams allocated to Chennai Corporation, 60 teams to Chengalpet district, 51 teams to Thiruvallur and Poonamallee areas, and 30 teams to Kancheepuram district. These districts bore the brunt of floods triggered by Cyclone Michaung, emphasizing the critical need for both preventive and control measures in these heavily affected areas.
