According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 2022 Report, Chennai is the safest metro for women among 6 metros in India with the lowest number of cases registered by the police.
According to NCRB Chennai reported 738 cases of crimes against women in the last year, down from 874 from the previous year. However, the NCRB pointed out that there are still 1,878 pending cases due to weak chargesheets, hostile witnesses, and lack of evidence.
Mumbai and Bengaluru metro cities have more cases, while Delhi topped the list with 14, 518 cases of crimes against women in 2022.
