Despite numerous releases in Kollywood this year, budget-conscious films secured the top 5 positions. Notably, these movies don’t feature A-list actors but excel in audience resonance, social impact, and entertainment value.
“Ayothi”: Directed by R. Manthira Moorthy, this movie is about a family dealing with a sad accident. It shows how people come together during tough times. The film talks about society, festivals, and why it’s important to stick together. It’s emotional and has great acting fromSasikumar, Yashpal Sharma, Preethi Asrani, and Anju Asrani.
“Good Night”: You can watch this on Disney PlusHotstar. Directed by Vinayak Chandrasekaran, it’s about Mohan, who has a problem with snoring that affects his marriage. It’s both touching and funny,though it might feel a bit long and predictable.
“Por Thozhil”: This is a thriller by Vignesh Raja Starring Sarathkumar and Ashok Selvan. It’s about murders in Trichy and shows the different roles of the main characters. It’s suspenseful but could have had a more intense story and a stronger bad guy.
“Chitha”: Directed by SU Arun Kumar, this movie follows Eswaran (played by Siddharth) dealing with a tough situation when his niece goes missing. It talks about abuse, society, and problems in parenting.The music and visuals are great.
“Dada”: An emotional drama starring Kavin and AparnaDas. It’s about a young couple facing unexpected problems when they become parents. It shows relationships and common problems, though it could have shown more about the main characters and their parents.
