Dhinakaran takes a dig at EPS

Chennai, Jan 11: In a scathing attack on AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Amma Makkal Munnettra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran accused him of betrayal towards both the public and his own party members. Dhinakaran asserted that Palaniswami’s actions, particularly in relation to special reservations, were deceptive and indicated a lack of loyalty to those who supported him.
Addressing the media, Dhinakaran stated, “Mr. Palaniswami backstabbed people who helped him come to power as well as those who helped him retain power.” The specific reference was made to the 10.5% special reservation for the Vanniakula Kshatriyas within the quota for the Most Backward Classes (MBCs). Dhinakaran alleged that Palaniswami, aware of the impracticality of this reservation, pushed through a bill in the State Assembly before the Model Code of Conduct for the 2021 Assembly Elections came into effect. This move, according to Dhinakaran, amounted to a betrayal of the Vanniyar community.
Dhinakaran went on to emphasize the need for the State government to address the demands of striking transport workers promptly, asserting that the well-being of the public should not be compromised due to industrial actions.
Responding to queries about a potential alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Dhinakaran hinted at ongoing discussions with various political parties.
