Edappadi K Palaniswami, the general secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), has urged the ruling DMK government to promptly fulfill its election pledge of offering a monthly assistance of Rs 1,000 to those involved in raising the bulls participating in Jallikattu.
With nearly three years having passed since the DMK assumed power, Palaniswami took to social media, specifically X (formerly Twitter), to remind the government of its commitment. In a post, he stated, “It is going to be three years since the DMK came to power. I urge them to immediately fulfil the promise of providing Rs 1,000 assistance.”
Jallikattu, a traditional bull-taming sport, holds cultural significance in Tamil Nadu, and the welfare of those engaged in raising the bulls has been a focal point in political discussions.Â
