Chennai, Jan 22: In a fervent response to the DMK Youth Wing conference held in Salem, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami asserted the party’s stronghold in the region, emphasising that Salem belongs to the AIADMK.Palaniswami highlighted that the DMK’s youth wing conference had faced postponements twice before, attributing these delays to the fact that Salem stands as a stronghold for the AIADMK. He boldly declared, “No one can enter either, and people have the power to chase them away (DMK), even if they enter.”
Drawing a stark contrast between the two political parties, Palaniswami stated that both MGR (M.G. Ramachandran) and Jayalalithaa considered the people as their children. He emphasized that the AIADMK is a party formed for the welfare of the people, whereas the DMK, according to Palaniswami, is a party formed for the welfare of its own family members. He further accused the DMK of having the sole objective of earning through corruption.
The AIADMK leader didn’t shy away from criticizing the DMK’s track record, pointing out the failure to complete the Mettur surplus scheme project initiated by the AIADMK. Palaniswami accused the DMK of curtailing various other schemes brought forth by the AIADMK, alleging political vendetta as the motive behind such actions.
In a call to the people, Palaniswami urged them to teach the DMK a befitting lesson in the upcoming LS (Lok Sabha) polls. The political landscape in Salem seems to be a point of contention, with both parties vying for dominance as they gear up for future electoral battles.
