Dhinakaran to contest LS polls from Theni?

TTV Dhinakaran, the founder of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), disclosed on Wednesday that he is yet to make a final decision on contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Speaking to reporters in Madurai, Dhinakaran addressed speculation about his potential candidacy from the Theni Lok Sabha seat, stating, “Personally, I do not want to contest. But my party cadres want me to contest, and I have told them that I am considering it.” Acknowledging the expectations of the people in Theni, Dhinakaran emphasised that no decision has been reached yet, and any announcement would be contingent upon the firming up of political coalitions. He mentioned, “It will be revealed only after the coalition is firmed up.” Dhinakaran shed light on the ongoing discussions between AMMK and several political parties regarding a possible alliance for the Parliamentary elections. He outlined the party’s strategy, indicating that the AMMK would either be part of a coalition that collectively elects the Prime Minister or proceed independently if a coalition agreement fails to materialize. “Irrespective of the outcome of the election, O. Pannerselvam and I have decided to take the political journey together,” declared Dhinakaran, underlining a commitment to collaboration with O. Pannerselvam, a prominent leader within the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).
