Chennai’s popular Semmozhi Poonga is set to transform into a floral paradise from February 10 as the Department of Horticulture organizes a week-long flower exhibition, offering residents a rare and delightful experience. While hill stations like Ooty, Kodaikanal, and Yercaud traditionally host flower exhibitions during the summer seasons, this event aims to bring the floral extravaganza directly to the heart of Chennai.

The Semmozhi Poonga, inaugurated by the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi, in 2010 near the Anna flyover on Anna Salai, has become a cherished green oasis in the bustling city. Boasting more than 500 species of plants and trees, this meticulously curated park has been a haven for nature enthusiasts and those seeking respite from urban life.

The upcoming flower exhibition, organized by the Horticulture Department, is a testament to the efforts to fulfill the residents’ longing for a captivating flower showcase within the city. Over the past two years, the department has successfully organized similar exhibitions at Semmozhi Poonga, showcasing the rich diversity of flowers and plants.

Visitors to the exhibition can expect to encounter a stunning array of rare flowers, adding vibrant colors and fragrances to the lush green surroundings of Semmozhi Poonga. @@@@
