Traffic diversions for metro construction in city

The Greater Chennai Traffic Police have announced temporary traffic diversions at key locations in the city, including Anna Flyover, Nungambakkam, and Sterling Road. These diversions, set to commence on Sunday and last for a week, are being implemented in response to ongoing construction activities by the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) for three metro stations: Anna Flyover Metro Station, Nungambakkam Metro Station, and Sterling Road Metro Station. The purpose of these trial diversions is to facilitate the construction process and minimize disruptions to regular traffic flow in the affected areas. During this period, vehicles traveling from Chetpet towards Gemini Flyover will be redirected via College Road, Haddows Road, and Uthamar Gandhi Salai to reach Gemini Flyover. This diversion will operate as a one-way traffic arrangement, maintaining the usual flow and ensuring the safety and convenience of commuters. The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has been actively engaged in expanding the city’s metro network, aiming to provide efficient and sustainable transportation options for residents and visitors alike. However, such construction activities often necessitate temporary adjustments to traffic patterns to ensure the smooth progress of the projects while minimizing inconvenience to the public. The Greater Chennai Traffic Police advise motorists to plan their routes accordingly and follow the designated diversions during the specified period. Additionally, they urge drivers to exercise caution and patience while navigating through the affected areas, adhering to traffic regulations and respecting the safety measures implemented by authorities.
