Nilgiris Lok Sabha member and DMK deputy general secretary A. Raja has remained steadfast in his refusal to apologize for recent comments made about late Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran. In response to criticism from AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Raja has called for an expression of regret from Palaniswami for past insults directed at DMK leaders, including former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and current Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. The exchange of words began when Palaniswami urged Raja to apologize for his remarks, warning of potential consequences in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. However, Raja countered by asserting that Palaniswami should first acknowledge and express remorse for derogatory comments made about DMK leaders in the past. “M. Palaniswami has no right to label me as unfit to speak about MGR,” stated Raja, emphasizing his readiness to step down from his party position should Palaniswami and other AIADMK leaders retract their disparaging remarks about Stalin and his family.
