Sellur Raju rejects BJP’s influence in TN

In a fiery statement, AIADMK MLA Sellur K Raju of Madurai West has unequivocally declared that the people of Tamil Nadu will never embrace the BJP, likening their rejection to the resistance against historical invasions. Raju’s impassioned remarks underscore the deep-rooted sentiment against the saffron party, attributing its unwelcome reception to its perceived association with religion and language.
Addressing a gathering in Madurai, Raju accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of attempting to sway Tamil Nadu’s electorate through deceptive tactics. He criticized Modi’s efforts to court AIADMK loyalists by invoking the legacies of revered leaders MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa, characterizing them as veiled attempts to manipulate voter sentiment.
Raju’s condemnation extended beyond the BJP, targeting the ruling DMK government led by Chief Minister MK Stalin. He lambasted the administration’s flagship ‘Neengal Nalama’ scheme, alleging that it failed to address the pressing concerns of the populace. Raju highlighted economic hardships exacerbated by soaring prices of essential goods, alongside unfulfilled promises of liquor prohibition and debt relief.
Furthermore, Raju painted a grim picture of Tamil Nadu’s descent into social malaise, citing the proliferation of the drug trade as a symptom of governmental neglect. He asserted that disillusionment with the DMK’s governance has bolstered the AIADMK’s resurgence as a formidable opposition to both the ruling party and its national ally, the BJP.
