LS polls: KMDK replaces candidate amidst controversy

In a dramatic turn of events, Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi (KMDK), an ally of the DMK, has announced a sudden change in their candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Namakkal constituency.
Suryamoorthy, who had been previously declared as the party’s candidate, has been swiftly replaced by Madheshwaran following the emergence of a controversial video purportedly featuring Suryamoorthy making inflammatory remarks.
The video, which quickly went viral on social media platforms, sparked outrage and condemnation from various quarters, including political leaders and activists. Critics, including spokespersons from the Congress party, expressed strong disapproval of Suryamoorthy’s alleged hate speech, calling it divisive and unacceptable.
Despite Suryamoorthy’s subsequent claims that he was misquoted and his attempt to clarify the context of his statements, the damage had been done. The party leadership, faced with mounting pressure and public outcry, made the decision to replace Suryamoorthy with Madheshwaran as the candidate for the Namakkal constituency.
