Union Home Minister and BJP’s chief strategist Amit Shah made a significant impact in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape as he conducted a road show in the temple town of Madurai on Thursday evening, rallying support for NDA candidates ahead of the April 19 Lok Sabha polls.
Arriving in Madurai on a two-day visit via special aircraft, Shah was greeted with a warm reception at the airport before making his way to the Lord Dhanduayudhapani Temple junction at Nethaji Salai, where he kickstarted his road show to drum up support for BJP nominee Rama Sreenivasan.
The road show, spanning nearly 2 kilometers, culminated at Vilakkuthoon junction, drawing enthusiastic participation from BJP cadre and supporters, who lined the streets carrying party flags, portraits of Shah, and the BJP’s symbol, the ‘Lotus’. Shah reciprocated the warm reception by waving and displaying the party’s symbol throughout the route.
During the event, Amit Shah graciously accepted a garland of Lotus flowers, which he later presented to the BJP candidate. Following the road show, Shah paid his respects at the famous Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple, underscoring the cultural and religious significance of the region.
On Saturday, Amit Shah is set to continue his campaign efforts with a road show in Thuckalay, Kanniyakumari constituency, in support of BJP candidate and former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan. He will also visit Tiruvarur, where he will address an election meeting and seek support for BJP candidate SGM Ramesh before departing for Delhi via special aircraft.
Originally scheduled to visit Sivaganga and Tenkasi constituencies by helicopter upon his arrival in Madurai, the plans were later canceled.
