Kamala, mother of YouTuber ‘Savukku’ Shankar, has sought recourse through a habeas corpus petition (HCP). Her petition calls for a judicial inquiry into the alleged violence perpetrated against Shankar while in prison.The petitioner asserts that Shankar, known for his activism, whistle-blowing, and political commentary, has been targeted by authorities due to his exposure of various state scams and corruption.
Shankar’s lawyer, upon meeting him in prison, relayed distressing accounts of a brutal attack unleashed by police personnel, resulting in serious injuries, including a fracture on his right hand. Kamala implores the court to investigate these allegations thoroughly, emphasizing the need for accountability and justice for her son.
In addition to seeking a judicial inquiry, the petitioner urges the court to ensure that Shankar receives proper medical treatment for his injuries. She appeals for his transfer to a private hospital, where he can receive the necessary care and attention to recover from the physical and emotional trauma inflicted upon him.
