Amidst the political landscape of Tamil Nadu, K. Selvaperunthagai, the president of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC), has embarked on a mission to rally the party’s cadre towards the goal of reclaiming power in the state—a feat not achieved since the historic 1967 assembly elections.
Selvaperunthagai’s rallying cry to the party faithful underscores a renewed determination to break the decades-long hiatus from governance in Tamil Nadu. Reflecting on the party’s prolonged absence from power, he lamented the “wasted 57 years” and emphasized the imperative of striving for a more substantial political presence.
While acknowledging the alliance with the senior partner in the coalition, Selvaperunthagai articulated a desire for greater representation and influence, signaling a departure from the status quo. He highlighted the need for the Congress to assert itself independently and pursue a more ambitious electoral strategy.
