Kodai Vizha boat race Rescheduled to May 25 due to rain


The highly anticipated boat race, a central attraction of the Kodai Vizha summer festival, has been rescheduled to May 25 due to inclement weather. Originally planned for Tuesday at Bryant Park in Kodaikanal, Dindigul district, the boat race’s postponement aims to ensure safety and optimal conditions for participants and spectators alike.
The ten-day summer festival, Kodai Vizha, showcases a variety of cultural events, including folk dances, music performances, a boat race, and a dog show, among others. District Tourism Officer H Govindaraj highlighted the festival’s diverse offerings, which draw significant crowds and enthusiastic responses from both locals and tourists.
Despite the weather-related rescheduling, the festival continues to captivate attendees with its vibrant activities. The Dog Show, organized by the Animal Husbandry Department, is set to take place on Wednesday, adding to the lineup of engaging events.
Performers from Dindigul and neighboring districts have been showcasing their artistic talents, delighting spectators with colorful attire and lively performances. Additionally, debate shows and other cultural displays have been featured, enhancing the festival’s appeal.
