BJP Aims High in Tamil Nadu, Predicts Significant Gains in Lok Sabha Elections
BJP State President K. Annamalai has boldly predicted that the party will secure at least 10 out of the 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu when votes are counted on June 4. Speaking to the media after a State-level meeting of party functionaries in Chennai, Annamalai expressed confidence in the BJP’s performance both at the state and national levels.
Annamalai projected that the BJP would independently win 370 seats nationwide, with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) expected to capture a total of 400 seats. This outcome would provide Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a clear majority to begin his third term in office.
During the meeting at a kalyana mandapam in Chennai, Annamalai issued a stern warning to party members, indicating that disciplinary actions would be taken against those found to have committed errors in the lead-up to the April 19 elections. He revealed that he had received numerous complaints and planned to conduct thorough investigations following the announcement of the election results. Based on these inquiries, organizational changes and necessary actions would be implemented.
Addressing questions from the media, Annamalai refuted claims that Prime Minister Modi had declared himself as God, clarifying that Modi’s comments about karma had been misinterpreted. Annamalai also denied allegations related to BJP leaders’ recent controversial statements on the cancellation of reservations, insisting that these statements were misquotes and provided clarifications for each.
Responding to Congress leader E.V.K.S. Elangovan’s provocative request for him to serve beef to protestors at the BJP office, Annamalai cited Mahatma Gandhi’s reverence for cows and asserted his personal belief in the sacredness of the animal. He emphasized that he could not be compelled to serve something against his convictions and reaffirmed his commitment to cow worship.
