Traffic head constable ends life in Chennai


A tragic incident unfolded in Pattinampakkam on Saturday as a 36-year-old traffic head constable, Mohammed Javid Ali, took his own life. Mohammed was associated with the Royapettah Police Station.

The deceased’s wife, Suguna, also serves in the police force as a traffic constable stationed at the Greater Chennai Police Commissioner’s office. According to reports, Mohammed returned to his sixth-floor residence in the police quarters on Saturday afternoon and locked himself inside.

When Suguna came home after her duty on Saturday evening, she found the door locked from the inside and received no response when she knocked. Concerned for his well-being, she sought assistance from neighbors to break open the door. Tragically, they discovered that Mohammed had taken his own life.

He was promptly taken to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel declared him dead upon arrival. The Foreshore Estate police have registered a case and moved his body for post-mortem examination.

The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the police community, as colleagues and friends remember Mohammed Javid Ali for his dedication and service. The police department has expressed its condolences to his family and is investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
