The State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) has announced the suspension of fare concessions on express buses from June 16 to July 31, 2024. This decision, directed by the Managing Director, aims to manage the increased passenger volume and anticipated heavy traffic congestion during this period.Key Details:
Fare Concessions Suspended: The usual fare concessions applicable on weekdays will be temporarily replaced with full fares for all categories of buses, including AC, non-AC, seater, and sleeper services, throughout the specified dates.
Reason for Change: This measure is taken in response to the surge in passenger numbers and traffic congestion typically seen during the summer holidays, which are considered festive and special days from April 15 to June 15.
Circular Issued: A circular has been sent to all branch managers by the Deputy Manager, instructing them to enforce the new fare guidelines strictly. Conductors are to be informed of the changes to ensure compliance.
Booking Adjustments: The Senior Assistant Engineer in charge of bookings has been tasked with implementing the revised fare structure for all reservations made during this period.
Since 2018, SETC has charged full fares on weekends, holidays, and special days, discontinuing the 10 percent weekday fare concession during these times. The current suspension of concessions aligns with this practice, ensuring consistent fare policies during peak travel periods.
Implementation:
Branch Managers and Assistant Managers across the state have been instructed to monitor and ensure strict adherence to the new fare guidelines. Passengers should be aware that the fare concession will not be available from June 16 to July 31, and full fares will be applicable for all travel during this period.
Impact on Passengers:
The decision aims to streamline fare policies during the high-demand summer travel season, helping SETC manage the influx of passengers and maintain service efficiency. Passengers planning to travel during this period are advised to account for the fare changes in their travel budgets.
