BJP state president K. Annamalai strongly criticized the ruling DMK government on Monday over the recent brutal murder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) state president K. Armstrong. He announced that a BJP delegation, led by Union Minister of State L. Murugan, will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Tuesday, July 9, to demand a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into Armstrong’s death.
Addressing reporters after paying respects at Armstrong’s residence, Annamalai emphasized that the BJP, particularly its national president JP Nadda, is committed to ensuring justice for Armstrong’s murder. “The BJP delegation, including SC wing leaders VP Duraisamy and Union Minister of State L. Murugan, will meet the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to submit a representation on 17 incidents, including Armstrong’s murder and the Vengaivayal incident where human faeces were found in an overhead water tank of a Dalit village,” Annamalai stated.
Condemning Armstrong’s murder by the so-called Coolie gang, Annamalai expressed suspicion over the immediate surrender and remand of the criminals, calling it premeditated. “Now is the time to fully investigate who was behind Armstrong’s murder and whether it was politically motivated. As BSP supremo Mayawati has pointed out, law and order has deteriorated in Tamil Nadu,” he added.
“The motive for Armstrong’s murder must be fully ascertained, and for that, we need a CBI investigation,” Annamalai insisted. He further urged Chief Minister MK Stalin to strengthen the state’s police force, including its Intelligence wing, to prevent such incidents in the future.
