In the past 15 days, more than 1,000 people have been affected by dengue fever in Tamil Nadu. Neighboring states Kerala and Karnataka are also experiencing a daily increase, with over 100 new cases each day. The border districts of Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Erode, Theni, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Krishnagiri, and Vellore are seeing a rise in dengue cases.Health officials reported that so far this year, over 5,700 people have been affected by dengue in Tamil Nadu, with two fatalities. Authorities have instructed all local bodies and doctors to implement preventive measures against dengue. Maintaining clean surroundings and taking preventive actions are crucial in controlling the spread of the disease.
Officials emphasized that anyone experiencing symptoms of dengue should seek medical attention promptly and avoid self-medication, as it can worsen the condition. Proper medical treatment is essential to manage the infection effectively.
“Do not delay consulting a doctor if you have a fever. Self-medicating can increase the severity of the infection. It is crucial to avoid this mistake,” health officials advised.
