The lives of IT staff working at the IT Tech Park in Taramani, Chennai, have been significantly eased with the launch of new tempo services by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL). The initiative, aimed at expanding last mile connectivity, was unveiled on Monday.
To ensure seamless travel for commuters, the tempo services will operate between IT Tech Park in Taramani and Little Mount metro station. This move is part of CMRL’s broader efforts to provide last mile connectivity to various IT parks across Chennai.
According to a press note from CMRL, the new air-conditioned tempo services will cover a distance of approximately 6 kilometers one way, with an estimated travel time of 25 to 30 minutes depending on road traffic. The services will be available from Monday to Friday, running from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM and from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
Commuters can avail of the feeder services at a cost of ā¹50 through the G-TAXIE mobile application, available on both Android and Apple platforms. The app allows users to purchase tickets, track the vehicle, and view the live location or estimated time of arrival of the tempo.
The tempo feeder service initiative was officially launched by Rajesh Chaturvedi, Director (Systems & Operations) of CMRL, at the International Tech Park (ITPC) in Taramani on Monday. This new service underscores CMRL’s commitment to enhancing transportation options and convenience for the city’s IT workforce.
