Chief Minister M K Stalin has called upon traders and businessmen in Tamil Nadu to ensure that name boards of shops, businesses, trade, and commercial establishments are written in Tamil. Speaking at a traders’ welfare meeting held at the Secretariat on Tuesday, Stalin emphasized the importance of promoting the Tamil language in the commercial sphere.
Stalin stressed that the visibility of Tamil on the streets of Tamil Nadu is essential. “No one should point fingers and say that Tamil is not found anywhere in the streets of Tamil Nadu,” he said, urging businesses to adopt Tamil for their name boards.
The Chief Minister highlighted the DMK government’s efforts to support traders, noting the allocation of Rs 3.29 crores for traders’ welfare. He assured that there should be no middlemen between the government and the traders, ensuring direct support and benefits.
“Trade licenses now need to be renewed only once in three years, and the financial aid for trade union members who die will be increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakhs,” Stalin announced, reflecting the government’s commitment to easing business operations and providing greater support to traders’ families.
Stalin pointed out the significant increase in registrations with the traders’ welfare union, which now counts 88,209 members. He encouraged businessmen and traders to operate with compassion, rather than commercializing every aspect of their business activities.
