The Southern Railway has announced several changes in the pattern of express train services from August 1-14 due to remodelling works at Tambaram. The adjustments will affect multiple routes and schedules to accommodate the ongoing infrastructure upgrades.
Cancellations
Train 20691 Tambaram – Nagercoil Antyodaya Superfast Express (Tambaram, 11 pm; August 1-14)
Train 20692 Nagercoil – Tambaram Antyodaya Superfast Express (Nagercoil, 3.50 pm; August 1-13)
Diverted Services
Train 22153 Egmore – Salem Superfast Express (Egmore, 11.55 pm; August 1-14) will run via Chennai Beach, Arakkonam, Chengalpattu, and Villupuram.
Short-Terminations and Origination Changes
Train 12606 Karaikkudi – Egmore Pallavan Superfast Express (Karaikkudi, 5.35 am; August 1-14) will terminate at Chengalpattu.
Train 12605 Egmore – Karaikkudi Pallavan Superfast Express (Egmore, 3.45 pm; August 8-10) will start from Chengalpattu at 4.45 pm.
Train 12635 Egmore – Madurai Vaigai Express will start from Chengalpattu at 2.48 pm (August 1-14).
Train 12636 Madurai – Egmore Vaigai Superfast Express (Madurai, 6.40 am; August 8-10) will terminate at Chengalpattu.
Train 12653 Egmore – Tiruchchirappalli Rockfort Express will start from Chengalpattu at 12.40 am (August 2-15).
Train 20683 Tambaram – Sengottai Express (August 1-13) will start from Villupuram at 11.15 am.
Train 20684 Sengottai – Tambaram Express (August 2-12) will terminate at Villupuram.
Train 16159 Egmore – Mangaluru Central Express (August 1-14) will start from Tiruchchirappalli at 4.40 am.
Train 16160 Mangaluru Central – Egmore Express (August 1-13) will terminate at Tiruchchirappalli.
Train 22658 Nagercoil – Tambaram Superfast Express (August 1-13) will terminate at Egmore.
Train 22657 Tambaram – Nagercoil Superfast Express (August 4-14) will start from Egmore at 7 pm.
Train 15630 Silghat Town – Tambaram Nagaon Express (August 2 and 9) will terminate at Egmore.
Train 15629 Tambaram – Silghat Town Nagaon Express (August 5 and 12) will start from Egmore at 7.15 pm.
Train 22841 Santragachi Jn – Tambaram Antyodaya Express (August 5 and 12) will terminate at Chennai Beach.
Train 22842 Tambaram – Santragachi Antyodaya Express (August 7 and 14) will start from Egmore.
Train 15930 New Tinsukia – Tambaram Weekly Express (August 5 and 12) will terminate at Egmore.
Train 20482 Tiruchchirappalli – Bhagat Ki Koti Humsafar Weekly Express (August 3 and 10) will be diverted and skip Egmore.
These changes aim to facilitate the smooth execution of the Tambaram remodelling works and ensure minimal disruption to passengers. Travellers are advised to check the revised schedules and plan their journeys accordingly.
