DMK’s youth wing secretary and Sports Minister, Udhayanidhi Stalin, has called on party leaders and cadres to prepare for any political exigencies ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Addressing party in-charges of all 234 Assembly constituencies, Udhayanidhi emphasized the need to be ready for any scenario, including contesting without certain allies. This directive comes amidst growing tensions within the State Congress unit regarding their share in power and aspirations for greater influence in Tamil Nadu politics. These developments have caused concern among DMK leaders and the Congress high command, highlighting the fragility of current political alliances.
During a recent function held to celebrate the in-charges’ performance in the Parliamentary polls, where the DMK-led INDIA bloc achieved a sweeping victory, Udhayanidhi reiterated the importance of being prepared for “everything.” The event took place at Udhayanidhi’s ‘Kurinji’ camp office and was attended by members of the five-member coordination committee, established by DMK president and Chief Minister MK Stalin to recommend organizational changes ahead of the Assembly elections.
Sources indicate that Udhayanidhi has closely monitored the internal issues within the State Congress unit concerning its alliance with the DMK. The coordination committee, responsible for overseeing preparations for the Lok Sabha polls, also convened on the sidelines of the felicitation event to discuss future strategies.
Udhayanidhi urged constituency in-charges to enhance their coordination with district secretaries and other local functionaries to bolster election preparations. This call for intensified efforts and better local coordination underscores the DMK’s proactive approach to addressing potential challenges and ensuring a robust campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections.
