BJP State president K. Annamalai has criticized the DMK government for its perceived lack of vision in upgrading educational infrastructure in government schools and colleges across Tamil Nadu.
In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Annamalai accused the DMK government of obstructing Prime Minister Narendra Modiās initiatives, thereby depriving the state’s residents of the benefits of various Central government programs.
Annamalai specifically pointed out the state’s failure to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM-SHRI) initiative. Despite committing to the program, which aims to develop and upgrade schools to provide high-quality education, the state government has yet to formalize its participation.
Additionally, Annamalai referenced a written reply from the Central government to questions posed by DMK MPs and their allies in the Lok Sabha. The reply indicated that the Tamil Nadu government has not signed the MoU to implement the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA) scheme. This scheme is designed to improve access, equity, and excellence in the state higher education system, particularly targeting educationally underserved areas.
“It is time for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin to give an answer,” Annamalai asserted, urging the state government to explain its delays and take immediate action to enhance the educational infrastructure in the state.
