The Tamil Nadu government has announced a new initiative to offer free vaccinations for children at select private hospitals. This program will provide 16 essential vaccines at no cost to children from one month old up to 18 years.
Dr. Selvavinayagam, Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, stated, “An ordinance has been issued to certain private hospitals to provide these free vaccinations. We are taking steps to ensure the public can access these vaccines at no charge.”
The selected private hospitals have been instructed to store the vaccines properly and adhere to the prescribed guidelines to ensure the effectiveness and safety of the vaccination program.
Dr. Selvavinayagam emphasized that this initiative aims to benefit the public in a manner similar to the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme. “Additionally, extra centers will be opened to ensure that no fees are charged to the public,” he added.
This initiative is a significant step towards enhancing public health and ensuring that all children in Tamil Nadu have access to essential vaccinations, regardless of their socio-economic status.
