Paris, July 2: Carlos Alcaraz, at 21, has reached the singles semifinals at the Paris Olympics, becoming the youngest man to achieve this milestone since Novak Djokovic in 2008. Alcaraz defeated Tommy Paul of the U.S. 6-3, 7-6 (7) on Thursday to secure his spot in the final four.
This victory adds to a series of remarkable achievements for the Spanish star, who has already won titles at the French Open and Wimbledon this year, bringing his Grand Slam count to four. Alcaraz, known for setting records, is just a few days older than Djokovic was when he made his Olympic semifinal appearance 16 years ago.
In his semifinal match, Alcaraz will face either Casper Ruud of Norway or Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada. The other top-seeded players vying for a spot in the finals include Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev, and Lorenzo Musetti.
Alcaraz’s impressive run at the Olympics has been marked by his dominance on the court, having not dropped a set so far. Despite being eliminated from doubles play with Rafael Nadal earlier in the tournament, Alcaraz continues to showcase his exceptional talent and resilience in singles competition.
