New Delhi, Aug 13: India wrapped up its Paris Olympics 2024 campaign with six medals, falling just one short of their record-breaking seven-medal haul from Tokyo 2020. In Tokyo, India secured one gold, two silver, and four bronze medals, marking its most successful Olympic outing.
The Paris 2024 Olympics saw Indian athletes continue their strong performances. Manu Bhaker emerged as a standout, securing two bronze medals in shooting—one in the individual category and another in the mixed team event alongside Sarabjot Singh. Swapnil Kusale added to India’s tally with a bronze in shooting as well. Neeraj Chopra clinched a silver medal in the men’s javelin throw, while the Indian men’s hockey team secured a bronze after defeating Spain. Wrestler Aman Sehrawat also contributed to the medal count with a bronze in his event.

India could potentially match their Tokyo 2020 medal tally if the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rules in favor of wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who has appealed for a joint silver medal following her disqualification.

In recognition of their achievements, India’s medal winners from the Paris Olympics 2024 received substantial cash rewards.

Manu Bhaker
The 22-year-old shooter, who was also India’s flag bearer at the closing ceremony, received a cash prize of ₹30 lakh from the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Men’s Hockey Team
Each member of the men’s hockey team was awarded ₹15 lakh by Hockey India. Additionally, the support staff received ₹7.5 lakh each. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Manjhi announced a special prize of ₹4 crore for defender Amit Rohidas and ₹15 lakh for each player, along with ₹10 lakh for each support staff member. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also announced a ₹1 crore cash prize for each squad member from the state.

The generous rewards reflect the country’s appreciation for the athletes’ dedication and achievements on the global stage.
