Washington, Aug 21: U.S. President Joe Biden has secretly approved a new nuclear strategy that focuses on China’s expanding nuclear capabilities, according to a report by the New York Times. The updated plan, known as the “Nuclear Employment Guidance,” was finalized in March but has not been publicly announced by the White House.
The revised strategy marks a significant shift in Washingtonâs nuclear deterrent approach. An unclassified version of the strategy is expected to be shared with Congress before Biden’s term ends. Recently, two senior administration officials briefly mentioned the strategy in their speeches. The strategy update occurs approximately every four years.
