The upcoming film Four Signal is generating buzz with actor-comedian Pugazh headlining the project, marking the directorial debut of Maheswaran Kesavan. The film promises to offer a unique narrative inspired by the everyday lives encountered on Chennai’s bustling streets.
Director Maheswaran Kesavan, known for his work alongside renowned filmmaker Vasanthabalan, shared that the story of Four Signal was born from his own experiences of traveling in a share auto. “I used to travel regularly from Kelambakkam to Thiruvanmiyur, and during these trips, I met various individuals whose stories left a lasting impression on me. This led me to imagine how these people would connect with the auto driver,” he explained.
The film’s storyline revolves around a share auto driver, portrayed by Pugazh, who interacts with four different passengers at various traffic signals. These encounters inspire him to write a screenplay, weaving together the diverse stories he hears during his daily commutes. The central question of the film is whether he can transform these real-life stories into a successful film.
Pugazh, who is well-regarded for his ability to connect with audiences, plays the role of an aspiring director who drives a share auto as his day job. His character, who operates the Poonamallee to Nemam route, encounters the four main characters at different signals, each contributing to the narrative that he hopes to turn into a film. Maheswaran Kesavan chose Pugazh for this role due to his versatility and the emotional depth he brings to his performances.
The film also features a notable ensemble cast including Aruvi Thirunavukkarasu, Kalloori Vinoth, the late actor Lollu Saba Seshu, Sharmila, and Vijay Adhiraj. Each of these actors will play significant roles, adding depth to the film’s romantic drama.
Four Signal boasts a talented technical team, with music composed by AJ Ali Mirzak, cinematography by Bala Palaniappan, and editing by Priyan. The film is produced by RS Manikandan and Maheswaran Kesavan. Currently in its post-production phase, with dubbing scheduled to commence soon, the film is eyeing a release during Deepavali.
