In anticipation of increased travel demand on Friday, considered an auspicious day, and the upcoming weekend, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Department has announced the operation of special buses across the state. This move aims to manage the anticipated rush and ensure smooth travel for passengers.
According to a department release, 355 additional buses will be operated from Kilambakkam to major destinations like Tiruvannamalai, Trichy, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode, and Tiruppur on Friday. On Saturday, 360 more buses will be deployed to these same destinations, accommodating the ongoing travel demand.
In addition, 75 extra buses will be operated from Koyambedu to Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur, and Bengaluru on both Friday and Saturday, catering to pilgrims and weekend travelers.
Recognizing the significant number of travelers heading back after the weekend, the department has also arranged for 200 additional buses to operate from key locations like Bengaluru, Tiruppur, Erode, and Coimbatore to other parts of Tamil Nadu.
To facilitate the return of passengers after the weekend, special buses to Chennai and Bengaluru will be operated on Sunday, based on the requirement. This flexibility is intended to accommodate those returning from short trips or pilgrimages.
The release also highlighted the high demand for tickets, with 7,950 passengers having already booked online tickets for travel on Friday. Similarly, 3,663 and 6,840 passengers have booked their tickets for Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The department has assured that more buses will be added if needed to meet the demand.
Passengers are encouraged to book their tickets in advance through the official website www.tnstc.in or via the mobile app, ensuring a hassle-free travel experience during this busy period.
