In a significant move to support sports development in Tamil Nadu, Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin distributed cheques amounting to ₹57 lakh from the Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation fund. The funds are allocated for athlete incentives and the improvement of sports infrastructure.
During the event, a cheque of ₹2 lakh was presented to para-athlete Jagadeesh Dilli, who is set to participate in the Para-Badminton competitions in Indonesia and Japan. Additionally, cheques totaling ₹15.45 lakh were distributed to six athletes set to compete in national and international sports events. The Minister also handed out sports equipment worth ₹9.55 lakh to 12 athletes.
In another significant allocation, Minister Udhayanidhi presented a cheque for ₹30 lakh to FC Sports Private Limited, a Chennai-based football team, for the development of the ‘B’ ground at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. This fund will be used to enhance the training facilities and conduct matches for the team.
The event was attended by Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department Secretary Atulya Misra, Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority Member Secretary Meghnath Reddy, and other officials.
