Chennai: Vande Bharat trains for Tamil Nadu via a virtual ceremony. These high-speed trains began operating for the public on Monday, September 2.
The two newly launched Vande Bharat trains are:
Chennai Egmore to Nagercoil Vande Bharat Express
The Chennai Egmore – Nagercoil Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 20627) departs Chennai Egmore at 5:00 AM. It stops at Tambaram at 5:23 AM, Villupuram at 6:52 AM, Trichy at 8:55 AM, Dindigul at 9:53 AM, and reaches Madurai at 10:38 AM. The train resumes its journey from Madurai at 10:40 AM, making stops at Kovilpatti at 11:35 AM, Tirunelveli at 12:30 PM, and arrives in Nagercoil at 1:50 PM.
On the return journey, the train departs Nagercoil at 2:20 PM and stops at Tirunelveli at 3:18 PM, Kovilpatti at 3:58 PM, Madurai at 5:03 PM, Dindigul at 5:48 PM, Trichy at 6:45 PM, Villupuram at 8:53 PM, Tambaram at 10:28 PM, and reaches Chennai Egmore at 11:00 PM. This train, consisting of 16 coaches, operates six days a week except Wednesday.
Madurai to Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express
The Madurai – Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 20671) departs Madurai at 5:15 AM. It arrives in Dindigul at 5:59 AM, departs at 6:01 AM, and reaches Trichy at 6:50 AM. From there, it departs at 6:55 AM and arrives in Karur at 8:08 AM, Namakkal at 8:32 AM, Salem at 9:15 AM, and finally arrives in Bengaluru Krishnarajapuram at 12:50 PM and Bengaluru Cantonment at 1:00 PM. The total travel time is 7 hours and 45 minutes.
On the return journey, the train departs Bengaluru Cantonment at 1:30 PM, reaching Krishnarajapuram at 1:55 PM, Salem at 4:50 PM, Namakkal at 5:38 PM, Karur at 5:58 PM, Trichy at 7:20 PM, Dindigul at 9:08 PM, and Madurai at 9:45 PM. The total travel time for the return journey is 8 hours and 15 minutes. This train, with 8 coaches, operates six days a week except Tuesday.
